the filters are hiding them.

Notes without a date stay on the wall — they never appear here. The week is wider than the screen — swipe
the calendar sideways for the rest of it.
Drop to saveA link becomes a note with its preview.
Notes this device can't open
These were locked with a key this device no longer has,
usually from before your twelve words were changed. They open on their own if this
device gets that key back. Nothing else can open them.
Email waiting to arrive
More email arrived in an hour than this account
takes at once, so these were kept rather than dropped. They are sealed to
you - this server cannot read them - and they wait seven days. Bring one
in and it becomes an ordinary note.
Wall settings
These belong to this view only. Another view over the
same notes can sort and filter completely differently.
Columns are worked out from the width, so a wider screen shows more of them
rather than stretching what is there.
Exactly what the rail is set to right now. Changing it here changes the rail,
and the other way round.

Every tag you have. A main tag stays

off a main tag and bring it with them — which is what keeps the rail ten chips wide whether
you have sixty tags or six hundred.

Your recovery phrase
This is the only way back in.
You sign in with Google, so there is no password to reset. Lose every device and lose
these twelve words, and the notes cannot be recovered — not by us, not by anyone.
Save as PDF puts these words in a file on this device. Delete the file once the paper is safe.
Your backups are locked with these same twelve words, so a backup on its own
cannot set up a new device. Use these same twelve words on every device.
A different phrase makes a different key, and anything sent to your account will not open
on a device that has the wrong one.
Enter your recovery phrase
This device does not have your key yet.
Your account already has one, set the first time you signed in somewhere else. Type the
same twelve words here. A different phrase makes a different key, and
nothing sent to your account will open on this device.
Order matters. Capitals, numbering, commas and line breaks do not —
paste them however you have them.
If you have lost your twelve words
Your key is what opens your notes. It is not your sign-in, and we
have never had a copy of it — so there are only two ways back.
Only a backup file downloaded before backups were locked
with your twelve words can set this device up without them. A newer one is refused
before anything changes, so trying costs nothing.
Your existing notes stay locked for good unless you find the
words. New notes will open after the waiting period. We’ll warn your other devices, in
case this isn’t you.
This cannot be undone once it starts.
Typing it is the confirmation. Nothing happens until you do.
New words for your key
Your notes stay as they are. To be sure it’s you, sign
in again with Google, then wait 3 days.
We’ll email you and tell your other devices, and any of them can stop it. Your old words

Use the AI assistant?
The AI features (the assistant, summaries and reading a photo)
work on your notes and photos. To do that, some of them have to leave this device.
When you use an AI feature:
If you reject, the assistant is not shown anywhere in the app, and nothing is
sent. Your notes work as before.
You can change this at any time in Settings → The assistant.
Your backups are sealed to your account today. Nothing can
open them except your devices, and anyone holding your twelve words.
A readable backup holds every note as plain text. Anything that
opens the file can read them — including anyone who reaches the Drive
or OneDrive account it sits in.
It does not need your twelve words. Neither does anybody else.
Backups and attached files already in your cloud do not change, so
photos and files added before now stay sealed. New ones will be
readable from now on.
You can come back here and seal them again at any time.
You do not need this to keep a copy you can read:
Export a readable copy, in this same drawer, writes one
whenever you want and whatever this is set to.

Your notes live on your devices. They are backed up to
your cloud, or to a file you download. Anything arriving
from elsewhere is encrypted to a key only your devices hold. The guide explains all
of it.
Part of Logos Legacy. Built to be read and understood —
every rule it follows is written down.
Trash
Deleted notes wait here. Notes in the Trash can be restored. Deleting and restoring sync to your other devices.
Add a device
A new device has no key, so it cannot read anything
until it is given one. Signing in is not enough — that only proves who you are, not that
you should be able to read.
Open this app and sign in to the same
account.
It will ask for your twelve words. Type them in.
That is the whole of it — the key is rebuilt from the words on that device, and
everything opens.
They are not stored anywhere and cannot be shown again. This device holds
the key, so it can give the same key a new phrase — every note stays
readable here and on every device already set up.
The words are the key. Say them out loud to somebody in the room if you must,
and do not send them in a message — anyone who has them can read everything in this account,
and there is no way to take that back afterwards.

✓ Synced
Reading it back is the only way to know a sync happened rather than merely
having been sent. A write that silently wrote nothing is the failure nobody notices for
six months.
Your cloud — what this device syncs with
your cloud
Sync now, at the bottom of this
drawer, uses this. It goes both ways: what is here goes up, what is there comes
down, and nothing is deleted by it.
Backups in your cloud are
sealed to your account. Sealed means the
notes in them can be read by your devices, and by anyone who has your
twelve words — and by nothing else.
Or a file on this device
A file is a complete backup — every
note and every attachment — and it needs no account and no Drive to read
back. It is a snapshot you keep: nothing updates it afterwards. For moving to another
account, keeping a copy off this machine, or leaving.
Unless you have chosen readable backups, it is sealed to
your account, and the key inside it is wrapped by your twelve words — so
a new device can read it back once you have entered them.
A readable copy is plain JSON that any program can open,
whatever your backup setting says. Nothing in it is sealed, so keep it
where you would keep the notes themselves.
Settings

your account everywhere. The second describe this machine and would be wrong to
carry to another one.

are when you type them here.
The assistantWhether notes may be sent to an AI provider
AI assistantSends what you ask, and the notes that bear on it, to the AI provider. Off means nothing leaves this device and the assistant will not answer.
Never send these tagsNone. Any note can be sent when it is relevant to a question.
This device — stays hereSearch that understands meaningA language model, on this device, off by default
Understand meaningThe assistant finds notes by what they mean, not
only by the words you typed — “what did I decide about the
contract” finds a note that says “agreed the final
terms”. Downloads a language model once, about 23MB, and runs it
on this device: your notes are read here and nothing
about them is sent anywhere. Off means searches match on words, as
they always have.
AppearanceLight, dark, or whatever the machine is doing
AppearanceA laptop in a bright room and a phone at night want different answers.
KeyboardSingle-letter shortcuts, on or off
Single-key shortcutsN, C and + start a note from anywhere. Turn off if you use speech input or press keys by accident; the buttons still work.
Formatting an open noteCtrl+B bold, Ctrl+I italic, Ctrl+Shift+8 bulleted list, Ctrl+Shift+7 numbered list (Command on a Mac). A link has no shortcut: use the Link button, or paste an address over selected words.

Notes waiting for a key
Other devicesLost a phone, or signed in on a computer that is not yours?
This ends every session except this one. This device stays signed in.
Signing a device out stops it syncing, receiving notes and asking the
server for anything. Notes already saved on it stay on it until somebody signs out
there and chooses Erase.
What encryption does not cover, stated plainly: a message is
readable by WhatsApp or your carrier before it reaches us; a question you ask the assistant
is readable by the AI provider; and timestamps, note counts and reminder times stay in the
clear because the server needs them to work at all.
Your dataSync, export, restore from a file, delete the account
Your account dataEverything our server keeps about your account, as one file to keep. Notes are in it as they are stored: locked with your key.
