Your notes live on your devices. They are backed up to your own Google Drive or OneDrive, whichever your account uses, or to a file you download. There is no shared library and nothing is ever public.
We ask your provider for your name and email address, so the app knows whose notes these are. No contacts, no calendar, and nothing it can read from your existing files.
Google is also asked for permission to write one file — your backup, in your own
Google Drive. That permission is drive.file, which reaches only files
this app itself created: it cannot list, open or touch anything else in your Drive.
Google's own consent screen says the same thing in its own words, and it is asked for
here rather than sprung on you later.
Your backup goes where your account lives. Sign in with Microsoft and it goes to your own OneDrive, into a folder this app makes and can see nothing outside of. Sign in with Google and it goes to your Google Drive. There is no choosing and no crossing over — and you can always keep a file instead.
When you do back up, the app on your device sends it straight to your drive. This server never holds the key to it and the backup never passes through it — it throws every provider token away the moment you have signed in. You can also export a file and keep it yourself instead.
